Amethyst

Amethyst is the birthstone for February.

The ancient Egyptians considered amethyst a stone of the intellect and wisdom. But the Greek word for it is amethustos, which means “not drunken”,which has long associated the mineral with the belief that wearing it is a protection against intoxication. It’s also been considered a calming influence, a good stone for clarity, and a protection from thieves.
